What’s In A Name? Your Cultural Identity

Many challenges arise from living a multi-cultural life. The challenges to fit into a culture that is different from the one lived at home can be daunting. A lot of them are too obvious to dismiss, like a given name, so this is often the first part to disappear. And with it, a cultural identity from generations of family.

This week, Consuelo shares stories of the importance of names and how they define cultural identity. She explains how names have literal meanings in other languages that can influence personality. Consuelo highlights how generations of mothers create their own trends in naming their daughters to either break from their past or frame a needed future.
