The Power of Passing on Ancestral Cultural Knowledge Before It's Lost

This is a Pod Club episode that gives us insight to what we listened to last week with our featured guest, María Marqués. We take time to really sit in the valuable gems that she brought forward and what it means in living the #FirstGenVida.

There are two real gems: First, learning the true history of Afro Cubans and their immediate ancestry to the Yoruba people of Western Nigeria that influenced Cuban music and religion. Second, how easily this true history could have been lost, like any of our own, if not for the people that live it, learn it and pass it on to create an authentic narrative.
