A common introduction from my college engineering professors…
But the HOLD UP – what’s happening moment… was when I was 21… and the first female engineer hired at a firm of 40 men… where they sat me next to the men’s room… with the door wide open… for weeks. Still not sure if that was egos or ignorance..
So at what point do you [give up and leave] or try to blend in to a scenario that doesn’t look anything like you and makes it hard on you… you don’t.
This is what we talk about… encouraging you to make decisions with your entire personality regardless of the situation – for me it was sass and stilettos, full Latina, no apologies …
to be fully seen when others want you to “blend in” Connie or go away completely…
Many of my own stories will probably sound a lot like yours… hopefully not the men’s room one.. but you never know…and sometimes I’ll have conversations with others who can guide us thru those tricky life choices with answers that move us forward confidently and feeling cared for.
