Being a First Generation here in the U.S. is already difficult. There is little guidance or mentorship and usually a lot of trauma from the immigration experience. Then there is the pressure to succeed at all cost, even at risk of assimilating.

Does this sound all too familiar? Can you take one more responsibility? There is one which is vital to your identity and healing generational trauma: Understanding the history of your culture and how it was lived by your parents.

Without embracing the knowledge of your cultural heritage, your grandchildren may end up believing that you came from a foreign country that has nothing to do with them.
